The theater formerly know as Westbury Music Fair...
In 1956 on an underdeveloped industrial area in Westbury, a tent was raised in
hopes of bringing Broadway to Long Island. On June 18,1956 the Music Fair
started off its 13 week season.
The first performance was "The King and I" starring Charles Korvin and Constance
Carpenter. Nearly ten years after the Music Fair's debut on Long Island, the
tent was replaced with a year round fully enclosed theater. "An evening with
Jack Benny" was the first of many entertainers to open in the newly renovated
theater.
During the late sixties and early seventies the Music Fair's lineup became more
diverse. Tony Bennett and Lena Horne were both two performers who entertained at
the Music Fair in the early 70's, as well as top pop and rock acts such as The
Jackson Five, The Doors, The Who and Jethro Tull. Comedians were also becoming a
prominent form of entertainment at the Music Fair. Johnny Carson brought his
talents to Westbury in 1971 complete with "The Mighty Carson Art Players." In
February 2005, North Fork Bank which became Capital One Bank acquired the
name-in-title rights to Westbury Music Fair in Westbury, NY. One of the nation’s
most successful and popular theatres now carries the name Capital One Bank
Theatre at Westbury.
Today, Capital One Bank Theatre features a full schedule of concerts
including favorites such as Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band,
"Weird Al" Yankovic, The Judds,
Bill Cosby and Paul Anka.
Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury is owned and operated by Live Nation
Entertainment, the world's largest producer and marketer of live entertainment
